The Second Edition of Effetto Biennale, Merida 2012, Celebrating the Equinox, will be presented at the Museo de la Ciudad de Merida (Calle 56 No.529 A entre 65 y 65 A Centro, Merida, Yucatan, Mexico), opening on MARCH 19 – 25, 2012 at 9:00 p.m. We have the privileged to announce the presence at the inauguration, a very special guest the great Mexican master painter, sculptor, and writer, Josè Luis Cuevas, recipient of the Lorenzo il Magnifico, Lifetime Achievement Award at the Eighth Edition of the Florence Biennale, December 2011.

The city of Merida, recognized as the "City of Peace". In point of fact, every edition of Effetto Biennale takes place in distinguished venues that have strong connections to peace and dialogue among peoples. It is no coincidence Assisi was chosen as the originating location for this new experience. Participating will be 60 artists from 28 nations. In celebration of the magnificent archeological phenomenon of the 2012 spring equinox in the Mayan City of Chichen-Itza.

Effetto Biennale is an international event with artists from around the world who wish to convene in prominent exhibition spaces selected to promote contemporary art through intercultural dialogue. Since the Florence Biennale manifestation, a place of encounters between international artists and lovers of art and culture, generating new paths and a platform – for participation and the exchange between those who believe that creation and creativity is the vehicle to a more open and democratic civilization.
